ABOUT THE 2016 GLOBAL EMPOWERMENT SUMMIT
Attendees urged to ‘Be the Source of Change’ to catalyze social change and combat human trafficking
Global Empowerment Summit brings together thought-leaders from academia, government, global organizations, the non-profit and for profit worlds, and the community at large, to engage in critical conversation, focused on the Human Rights Challenge of Tra cking, with the aim of discovering and promoting promising strategies to empower survivors and enable the full participation of girls, youth and women in a more equitable, inclusive and diverse society.
The summit marks the progress of a unique collaboration in the San Diego region that will propel us forward into a brighter future where resources are more equitably distributed, and where all families can live happily and grow together with dignity, self-respect and love.
“Our goal is to share best practices, connect, brainstorm and come up with solutions for social challenges that we face,” said Naila Chowdhury, who became UC San Diego’s first Director of Social Impact and Innovation in June. “We believe in collective action, and based on our experience at the first summit last year, we anticipate that the insights, experience and compassion of our speakers and the broader community will result in new ideas and programs that offer actionable and impactful solutions that can be implemented locally and globally.”
If you would like to make a contribution, you are invited to donate directly to the cause on the Alliance4Empowerment (A4E) website at www.alliance4empowerment.org. All contributions go directly to fund social credit projects, helping to provide economic empowerment to women and youth in San Diego and the U.S.-Mexico border region.
